We take the privacy and protection of your Personal Information (as defined below) very seriously. We may collect Personal Information from you in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy when you visit THE SIX FREEDOMS ACCRA website,  www.thesixfreedoms.com (”the Site’’) or are a member, financial supporter or volunteer. We are committed to protecting the privacy of visitors to our site.

This Privacy Policy is intended to inform the general public and users about the types of data we collect and how we collect it, as well as how we use, process, and disclose your information, including personal information, in conjunction with your access to and use of the Websites.

2. Who we are

THE SIX FREEDOMS ACCRA is a group of befriended horse experts in Ghana and beyond, that facilitates several horse welfare activities in Ghana. We are registered with THE HORSE SAFETY LIMITED BY GUARANTEE non-profit organization in Weija, Accra, Ghana.

3. What information will THE SIX FREEDOMS collect about me?

When you contact THE SIX FREEDOMS to become a member, make a donation or sign up to any of THE SIX FREEDOMS activities or online content, such as newsletters or your telephone, email or write to THE SIX FREEDOMS, or engage with THE SIX FREEDOMS via social media channels, we may receive and retain personal information about you. This can consist of information such as your name, email address, postal address, telephone or mobile number, bank account details to process donations and whether or not you are a taxpayer so that we can claim Gift Aid.

By submitting your details, you enable THE SIX FREEDOMS (and where applicable any sub-contractors we may use) to raise funds and to provide you with the goods, services, information, activities or online content you select.

We do not usually ask members to provide “sensitive personal data” (such as information relating to racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, health information and political opinions). However, if you reveal such information in emails or other communications hosted by our site, you are consenting to this sensitive personal data being collected and processed by us. If you do not wish to consent, please do not include sensitive personal data in your communications to, or through, the site.

If there is a clear reason for collecting sensitive personal data, for example, if you are participating in a marathon or similar fundraising event or where we need this to ensure that we provide appropriate facilities or support to enable you to participate in the event. Clear notices will be provided on applications for such events so that it is clear what information we need and why we need it.

If you are simply browsing the site as an anonymous visitor, THE SIX FREEDOMS may still collect certain information from you, such as your IP addresses (an IP address is a number that can uniquely identify a specific computer or other network devices on the internet).

If you enter your contact details in one of our online forms, we may use this information to contact you even if you don’t “send” or “submit” the form. We will only do this to see if we can help with any problems you might be experiencing with the form or with our websites.

THE SIX FREEDOMS will use your personal information for a number of purposes including the following:

for “service administration purposes”, which means that THE SIX FREEDOMS may contact you for reasons related to donations you have made such as your tax status with regard to Gift Aid, the completion of commercial or other transactions you have entered into with THE SIX FREEDOMS or the activity or online content you have signed up for;

for internal recordkeeping, to administer the site and for internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, statistical and survey purposes;

to fulfill donations contracts you have entered into with THE SIX FREEDOMS;

to contact you about any content you provide;

to invite you to participate in surveys or research about THE SIX FREEDOMS or our work (participation is always voluntary);

for marketing purposes where you have specifically consented to receive marketing communications from us (see below);

to provide you with information about our activities or online content you have agreed to receive;

to use IP addresses to identify the location of users, to block disruptive use, to establish the number of visits from different countries;

5. Donation form

Our donation forms are provided by the “BetterPlace”. We have chosen this provider to always guarantee the highest data security for your data. Your personal data will be transmitted to us via a secure connection. The payment data is transferred directly to the respective payment service provider using an encrypted connection. You can also donate via Mobile Money, MoneyGram or Wise.com which will require contacting us regarding our account details.  

Payment service providers

You have the following payment options to send us your donation:

• Donate via Paypal: The data of your Paypal donation will be transmitted to us via our donation form. For Paypal’s privacy policy see:

• Donations via credit card: Your credit card donation data will be sent to us via our donation form.

• Donations via Mobile Money, Money Gram or Wise.com: Your bank account details data will be sent to us via the payment form.


6. Personal information submitted when you make a donation

We will collect your first and last name, and your email address when you make a donation using our site or external fundraising platforms. When you make a card payment your credit or debit card details are only collected by our third party payment provider – PayPal. We do not store your credit or debit card details.

If you choose to claim Gift Aid on your donation we will also collect your declaration of tax status and your home address.

7. Will THE SIX FREEDOMS share my personal information with anyone else?

We will only use your information for the purposes for which it was obtained. We may share your information with selected third parties, including “data processors” such as our service providers, associated organizations and agents who help us to prepare and send the materials relating to our projects and fundraising activities. These “data processors” will only act under our instruction and we will not allow these organizations to use your data for their own purposes and will take care to ensure that they keep your data secure.

We may disclose your information to third parties:

in the event that we buy or sell any business or assets, in which case we may disclose your personal data to the prospective buyer or seller;

if THE SIX FREEDOMS or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, in which case personal data held about members will be one of the transferred assets;

if the disclosure is required or permitted by law (for example to government bodies for tax purposes or law enforcement agencies for the prevention and detection of crime, subject to such bodies providing us with a relevant request in writing); and

in order to enforce or apply our terms and conditions or to protect the rights, property or safety of THE SIX FREEDOMS, or our members or others.

What do third parties use my information for?

Third Party Services

In general, the third-party providers used by us will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us..

However, certain third-party service providers, such as payment gateways and other payment transaction processors, have their own privacy policies in respect to the information we are required to provide to them for your purchase-related transactions.

In particular, remember that certain providers may be located in or have facilities that are located in a different jurisdiction than either you or us. We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent the protection of your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorized way, altered or disclosed taking reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices If you provide us with your credit card information, the information is encrypted. We follow all PCI-DSS requirements and implement additional generally accepted industry standards.

THE SIX FREEDOMS would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:

The right to access – You have the right to request THE SIX FREEDOMS for copies of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.
